PRE SHOOT NOTES

When it comes to doing a professional photo-shoot, preparation is key! Here’s a few moments to think about prior your make up and hair styling session with us from our incredible and talented make up artist Tarah (https://www.instagram.com/tarahkostenkomakeup)

Hair

When picking inspiration photos for your hair please pick styles that are close to your hair color and length, for example if you have brown hair pick inspiration photos of brown haired models (not blonde). This ensures both you and your hair & makeup artist have a clear vision of what your style is going to look like at the end.

  • Please come with completely dry hair, 1 day old hair is best as it has natural oils that help maintain your hairstyle throughout the shoot. Clean hair is too slippery but if you need to wash please do it the day before your shoot.

  • If you are bringing hair extensions PLEASE ensure they are 100% natural hair as only natural hair can be heat styled properly.  Anything synthetic takes much longer to style, is usually too shiny on camera and can melt when too much heat is applied.

  • Hair extensions can be used for both volume and length during your shoot and are highly encouraged if you have them. If you’re looking into purchasing your own Abantu (Kingsway) or Bellami Hair ( metrotown in burnaby or various locations in Vancouver).

Skincare & Makeup

  • If you have any specific skin sensitivities please bring any skincare and makeup products you like with you to your shoot, your makeup artist can incorporate them into your look.  You may bring your own makeup brushes if you like but please make sure they are clean and dry for application, however please know that your makeup artist has their own brushes ready to use on you that have been cleaned and sanitized prior to your appointment.  There is no need to bring any skincare or makeup products to your photoshoot as your artist will have everything you need to create a beautiful look, however if you prefer certain products on yourself please bring them with you.

Additional Notes

  • Makeup and hair can take anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours so please arrive with no makeup on, just clean moisturized face and dry hair.  You will be provided a robe and slippers or you can bring your own.  There is no washroom in the studio but there is one in the building for you to use.  Both still and sparkling water is available in the studio and you can bring your own snacks for you to eat throughout the hair, makeup and photoshoot process.

We look forward to having you in the studio and bringing your vision to life!
